Who is Theo Marsh?

Theo Marsh is the editorial pen name of How To Grow Vegetables, a small independent publisher writing for gardeners across the United States. Theo is not one person with a résumé: the name lets the site speak with one consistent voice, and we would rather say so plainly than invent a biography.

What we publish

Zone-by-zone guides to the world’s vegetables, herbs, spices and novelty crops for US gardens, from bok choy and bitter melon to ginger, okra and saffron. Every guide is researched against university extension sources, seed-house data and grower reports, written for the USDA zone you actually live in, and reviewed before it goes out. Each one gives dates you can act on: when to sow, how deep, and when to expect a harvest. Where a crop will not finish in your climate, we say so and point to the closest thing that works.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell seeds, and nobody pays to appear in or change a guide. Read our editorial policy.
